School Attendance

It is essential that children attend school regularly.

If a child is absent from school, an explanatory note is required for his or her return.  Similarly, if your child is very late arriving at school we must be notified of the reason.

On request, parents will be given leave of absence from school to take children on a family holiday for a period not exceeding 2 weeks in any calendar year. If we are not informed of the reason for any absence then the absence is considered as unauthorised and is shown as such next to your child's name on the class register and also in the school's attendance record.  As these figures are included in each years school prospectus a distorted picture of the school's attendance record will be shown if we are not informed of the reason for absence.

We also have close liaison with the Educational Welfare Officer who will deal with any absences or other issues causing us concern.

The information below shows the school attendance record for 2006 - 2007 on the information received by us, as to the reason for absences.
